Attention Engineers: Ensure Authenticity. Verify Markings. Don’t Settle for Imitations.
Structural retaining stars, often seen on older masonry buildings, were initially designed for essential structural support. However, over time, many of these original stars, particularly those made from low-grade cast iron, have become brittle and less reliable. It’s essential to recognize that not all stars sold today meet structural standards—some are purely decorative and should never be used for structural reinforcement.
Our Structural Star Building Retaining Washers are proudly manufactured in the USA with exceptional quality. Often referred to as Seismic Earthquake Washers or Century Star Washers, our stars come with historically accurate architectural patterns, serving as anchor plates or wall washers that connect to tie rods or bolts on exterior masonry walls. These structural elements are designed to brace masonry walls, preventing lateral bowing and providing robust reinforcement. Available in five- or six-point star designs, they come in hot-galvanized cast ductile iron, with custom options in aluminum or bronze.
Why Choose Our Structural Stars? Our stars are made from Ductile Iron, ASTM 65-45-12, offering near “semi-steel” durability and hot-galvanized for maximum longevity. Unlike basic cast iron, which risks failure in structural applications, our stars are weldable and specifically engineered for structural integrity.
Our stars are also known as Gib Plates, Hurricane Bolts, Pattress Plates, Masonry Restraints, and Tie Backs in construction plans. Additionally, we provide all necessary accessories, including rods, nuts, washers, plates, and turnbuckles, to ensure seamless installation.

Attention Engineers: Verify markings. Choose genuine structural stars. Accept no substitutes.
