As a service to our customer base we like to provide Boston construction and development news.<\/h2>\n<p><em> Reprinted from <a href=\"https:\/\/boston.curbed.com\/2018\/8\/16\/17706504\/exchange-south-end-southeast-expressway\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CurbedBoston<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"uLNmVe\"><a href=\"https:\/\/boston.curbed.com\/boston-development\/2018\/8\/16\/17697764\/exchange-south-end-albany-street\">As expected<\/a>, the Boston Planning &amp; Development Agency on August 16 signed off on plans to redevelop the former site of the Boston Flower Exchange in the South End into a 1.6 million-square-foot, four-building technology and life sciences hub.<\/p>\n<p id=\"shONZ9\">Abbey Group, the developer that acquired the parcel in 2016, hopes to start construction on the $1 billion complex\u2019s first phase in the spring of 2019.<\/p>\n<p id=\"0hobnv\">The developer also plans to talk to transportation officials about mitigating the 5.6-acre development\u2019s impact on traffic, including through a new ramp for the Southeast Expressway. It has also committed to improving bus access to the area, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/business\/2018\/08\/16\/massive-south-end-project-wins-key-approval\/69glDsuqZvQtBdE2w9xPbM\/story.html\">per the <em>Globe<\/em>\u2019s Tim Logan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"9NNYpm\">In the end, what\u2019s been dubbed Exchange South End is due to become one of the biggest new projects in the neighborhood in decades.
