As a service to our customer base we like to provide Boston construction and development news.<\/h2>\n<p><em> Reprinted from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcvb.com\/article\/boston-university-plans-unique-building-shaped-like-stack-of-books\/23644205#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WCVB<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section--content hang-punctuation article-section--first article-section--centered\" data-reactid=\"272\">\n<h3>BOSTON \u2014Boston University is proposing to build a 17-floor tower on Commonwealth Avenue to house the new BU Data Sciences Center.<\/h3>\n<p>The proposed building would be the tallest on campus and the first major teaching center added to the Charles River Campus in half a century, the university announced. It would be built on the site of what is currently a parking lot along Commonwealth Avenue, at the intersection with Granby Street.<\/p>\n<p>Both the computer sciences and the mathematics and statistics departments would be based in the new building. Additionally, the upper floors would house a research institute.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents across every major want to take these courses. It\u2019s becoming the bread and butter for every student\u2019s education. Data science is now a unifier across disciplines,&#8221; professor Azer Bestavros said in a statement provided by the university.<\/p>\n<p>The design includes a four-story base and a 13-story tower intended to resemble &#8220;a stack of books,&#8221; BU officials said. It was designed by Toronto-based KPMB Architects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe city has embraced the idea of more remarkable architecture,\u201d said Gary Nicksa, BU senior vice president for operations. \u201cThe overall tone is that the city and community are encouraging better architecture, which means there will be a lot of discussion about this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Construction is expected to take 24-28 months once work begins.<\/p>\n<p>Public comments on the design are being accepted by the Boston Planning and Development Agency through Oct. 31.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>About Allied Bolt &amp; Screw<\/h3>\n<p>Since 1961 we have been the top provider of Hot Galvanized Anchor Bolts, Rods, Studs, Nuts, Washers, screws and 1000s of products.
